These earrings draw inspiration from a pair of a crescent moon-shaped earrings found in Iran and believed to belong to the 11th

century. Filigree jewelry was popular in medieval Syria and Iran. In a 12th century manuscript, the Treatises of FIxed Stars, female figures representing constellations are portrayed wearing crescent shaped jewelry.
Earrings are handmade in Colombia out of .950 silver by an artisan specialized in the art of ancient filigree.
The original earrings are preserved in the Metropolitan Museum of Art (MET) in New York.
