Stunning 14kt Gold Ruby Nugget Large Graduated Smooth Polished Stone Necklace 18

Beautiful rare find.  High quality vintage 18 1/2" Strand of Polished Ruby Nuggets Beads with Ornate 14kt Gold clasp marked 585
125.3g. total weight.  14kt gold clasp is 3g (approx.)
Total carat weight of 25 natural stones is 610 carats (approx.)
Smooth graduated lozenge shaped polished stones.  The largest center stone is 25mm x15mm and about 10mm thick.  The smallest is 13mm x 8mm and about 5mm thick.  So the rest of the stones are about 14mm x 9mm, 17mm x 10mm, 20mm x 12mm, and 21mmx 13mm.  Thickness ranges from 5-10mm.  They are in very good vintage condition with possible light surface scratching but no issues.  They are strung on a strong fine cable, closed with gold and finished with a substantial and beautiful 3 dimensional 14kt gold clasp.  The clasp is marked 585 on the smaller part that hooks through the larger part then pushes in for a nice click and and a secure closure.  The larger part has no marking but the gold is consistent.  It looks beautiful on the back of the neck.
The beads are high quality polished Ruby Nuggets, most likely from India or Africa.  My research does not allow me to say definitively whether they are treated or dyed, but I will say they are a very consistent vibrant color.  The color is a glossy raspberry, ruby claret, fuschia color, depending on the light.  There is some translucency in the sunlight, in which they look a brighter raspberry color and the crystalline structure is more visible.  In or against dark they appear more opaque and have a super glossy, wet hard candy look, tending to fuschia with purple.  The Ruby Nuggets are cold to the touch and very nicely matched.  This is a gorgeous statement necklace, substantial but not overly large and it wears comfortably.
