    On July 10, 1940, the uniforms and insignia of the generals and marshals of the Soviet Union were given in the resolution of the Council of People's Commissars No. 1221, and on October 25, by order of the NKO of the USSR No. 373, the "Regulations on the uniform of the generals of the Red Army" were introduced, which, like the marshals, the hat was approved in as a winter headdress. On January 26, 1943, by order of the NKO of the USSR No. 40, a special-style papakha was introduced as a winter headdress for colonels of all military branches, replacing the hat with earflaps.
